"Fish and all its diversity"
- sounds the slogan of coastline smokehouse Joh. Albrecht located at the ferry terminal at Harlesiel. The company founder Johann Albrecht drove the seas himself in former times before he founded his own fish processing facility with its own cutter fleet. In the seventies he started to sell fish in his own shop - a combination of sales and gastronomic offer. In the meantime the second generation has taken over the helm.
After many years of intense use a reconstruction was inevitable. When looking for spare parts for their old counter from a manufacturer no longer existent, the owner Gudrun Albrecht got in touch with AICHINGER at an early stage. It was not the only reason that counted in favour of AICHINGER consultant Reimo Dreger: "The chemistry was just right. In terms of taste and ideas, we were quite on the same wavelength." Albrecht said.
In close cooperation a concept was born where the product becomes the star. The main idea of the refurbishment of the sales room was to communicate a maritime atmosphere without integrating fish as a decorative element into the store design. The SIRIUS® counter is shaped like the hull of a ship; the rear wall concept gives openness to the long and narrow space and let the customers experience a feeling of sea. Where once fishing nets and fishes were hanging on the ceiling now linearity and transparency dominate the room.
This is what owner Gudrun Albrecht, her business partner Henry Aden and junior Timo Rüther appreciate especially: "Clarity and calmness. The customer can then concentrate on what is in the counter."
Otherwise the shop is not a quiet place at all: On peak days you will have there hundreds of people, tourists and locals, enjoying the delicious food. The coastline smokehouse has its winter break at the moment. It will re-open on March 12th.
