Vögeli Beck, St. Gallen
Good old traditions - ready for a promising future thanks to innovation.
In the center of St. Gallen tourists and locals are delighted by an outstandingly attractive café location. In the heart of the old patrician houses with their beautiful oriels Vögeli Beck climbed new highs in terms of eye-catching outlets in summer 2008. As one of the oldest bakeries in town it took a long time to rise like a phoenix from the ashes.
With Ingo Schlütz a new owner became active. He aimed to combine traditions with innovation in this shop. The service area spreading over two floors was to be reduced to one floor with a self-service area on the first floor. It also had to be considered the café being situated in two old town houses related to each other and having two entrances.
Together with the AICHINGER representative Gerold Längle Ingo Schlütz got started the restoration including technical and visual modifications. The we-shoplight experts joint the team in order to maximize the ambiance with the help of light, warm colors and atmospheric details.
A half-round ARTline® counter with a length of 6 meters and continuous cooling became the functional and creative highlight. The counter front shows an attractive compartmentation including a color gradient from a dark green to a light green. Thus it participates significantly in optimally guiding the customers from both entrances' sides.
The dark pines' green as seen in the logo of Vögeli Beck together with golden grooves also decorates the ceiling. The light beige and dark chocolate colors of the furniture fit perfectly as well as the stylish laminate flooring appearing natural oak. An extra counter has been chosen for the pastry and chocolate display - very important in Switzerland - that can be put instead of the seasonal ice-cream display. Bread and rolls are presented on appealing PANEVARI® shelves.
Ingo Schlütz concludes as follows: "Everything here was completely old-fashioned. Our plan was to totally redesign the café as a whole. We opted for state-of-the-art technology, ambiance, atmosphere and gastronomic flair. This was completed by AICHINGER at its best. Our guests and customers are very enthusiastic - and we still fit very well the historical townscape of St. Gallen."
