A university pavilion in the university hospital premises in Homburg/Saar
A convincing coherent concept that can easily be multiplied for other gastronomical solutions.
In the large premises of the university hospital Homburg/Saar you can find of course a few gastronomical facilities for in-patients, visitors and the working personnel. As well there is a big casino for doctors and nursing personnel. The central supply station is a huge hospital kitchen operated by the clinic management. Even an own bakery is part of the facilities. An interesting idea was born in order to even better utilise these two operational sections in the future.
The clinic management's conceptional approach meant a new and so far unique gastronomical installation to be developed on the hospital premises and to be used without restrictions by in-patients and visitors as well as by the public. Together with the AICHINGER representative Bernd Ott based in the AICHINGER office in Neunkirchen and a freelance architect the idea of a university pavilion was born. As a consequence a prototype was realised on the hospital premises. The opening party took place right at the beginning of 2009.
With the university pavilion a coherent gastronomical entity arose on a 100 sqm floor space showing unique design elements. A compact architectonical cover encloses the wide, airy and already mentioned pavilion design of the whole. The AICHINGER experts were in charge of an interior design dominated by striking decorative elements like room-dividers in red, filled with white marmoreal pebble and an eye-catching design flooring of changing images like wood decor planks and river gravel. The planners' team around Ursula Burkhardt and Isabell Gawron once again completed an outstanding interior design job.
A Gourmet hot counter and a PANEVARI® bread shelf make the technical equipment for the university pavilion a high-end solution. The pavilion has an outstanding impact especially when the daylight diminishes. Then the high-quality gastronomical mix of café, confectionery, restaurant and mini supermarket gets magic through its light effects. The reason is a specific light concept developed by the we-shoplight experts: Big red light cubes shining in the light transparent ambiance of the pavilion with an excellent visibility from a distance.
Thus by combining the efforts of the clinic management, a freelance architect and the AICHINGER representative a coherent innovative gastronomical concept was created. It is customised, unique, functional and appealing enough to realise it at other locations. There is a good chance to multiply the university pavilion. And this means: Perhaps in the near future already it will be shining at many other places.
