Renovation in record speed
When Anita Madenberger first came up with the idea of converting the sales area of her Café Bakery and turned to AICHINGER consultant Ernst Sommerauer, neither knew then that they would have a race against time.
The old furnishings - which were also from AICHINGER - had for over 20 years proven to be first rate, "but after such a long time, a change was just necessary", said owner Anita Madenberger. In the course of planning, it became apparent that it would be practical to also renovate the café area completely.
On the first of August this year the construction team moved in. For a month we had time to gut the building from top to bottom including sanitary facilities, bar and counter fittings, right up until the last coat hooks, everything was created completely new. Even the façade was redesigned. For a short time it looked as if we were in danger of not meeting our time plan because while gutting the old building, an old sewer became exposed and had to be re-laid as well.
Under the leadership of Ernst Sommeraur, AICHINGER's planning office in Graz took over the complete coordination of executing the construction work - from obtaining quotations from the various required trades people, up until the turnkey handover.
In the sales area, the highly transparent ARTline counter was installed, free of supports therefore providing a clear view of the house specialities. In the rear area, the revolving PANEVARI twin bread rack can be rotated 180° - so sold out product shelves disappear from the customers view. The perfect lighting concept came from we-shoplight: the lighting specialists put in energy-saving and long lasting LED lights particularly for this project.
There are now two passage ways leading from the sales area into the café: a wide glass door for customers and a smaller passage way for the staff which connects the rear portion of the counter with the rear of the bar and for Anita Madenberger - a great advantage ergonomically in terms for the staff. But the customers get their money's worth: "In the café area we wanted to take into account the growing trends of the customers," explained Sommerauer. "And here there is always a lively exchange between the 'regulars' and the people at the counter. And this should continue to be." And so that these lively debates can continue to take place, the new 'regulars table' is now an extension of the counter area.
After a very tight time plan and a very successful opening on the first of September, Anita Madenberger is more than satisfied with her new shop and café. The customers enjoy the mood of a coffee house atmosphere and the owner enjoys an increase in turnover.
